Architectural Drafting

 

GRADES 11-12

COURSE OVERVIEW: 1 Semester

Architectural drafting is an advanced course in drafting. Students will develop a basic understanding of floor plans and the specifications that go into the developing of today's homes and light commercial buildings. Floor, foundation, and site plans will be developed using computer software.

UNIT VIII    Foundations

UNIT IX       Site Considerations

UNIT X        Structural Systems and Building Materials

 

STUDENT OUTCOMES:

  1. Students will become familiar with structural systems in use today
  2. Students will become familiar with various architectural reference materials
  3. Students will design sketch and draw several architectural plans.

 

MAJOR LEARNING EXPERIENCES TO ACHIEVE OUTCOMES:

1.      Students will design, sketch and draw floor and site plans for a small summer cottage

2.      Students will design, sketch and draw floor and site plans for two story apartment building

3.      Students will design, sketch and draw floor and site plans for a project of their choice

4.      Students will demonstrate through various assessments an understanding of the concepts and vocabulary of architectural drafting.
