The G.H. Elliott Memorial Scholarship

 

The Lake Park High School Educational Foundation has announced the G. H. Elliott Memorial Scholarship, which will provide financial assistance to young men, and women who are planning on Industrial Technology/Vocational careers.

 

Gaylon H. Elliott was one of the founding faculty members of Lake Park High School when the school opened in 1956 and was a teacher/department chairman of the Industrial / Vocational / Technology Department for approximately thirty years. He also coached basketball for many years. Mr. Elliott assisted and guided many young people in reaching their decisions to select industrial and vocational technology as their occupational intent. The five hundred dollar scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted as a full-time student in an industrial technology / vocational degree or certificate program at an accredited school.
(A certificate program could be as little as six months.)

 

To be eligible for the G. H. Elliott Memorial Scholarship, the applicant must:

 

1.      Be currently enrolled in an Industrial Technology/Vocational program of studies.

2.      Be a Lake Park High School graduate of the current graduating class.

3.      Write and submit a typed statement of post-secondary occupational purpose and intent.

4.      Submit a transcript of all high school courses.

5.      Submit documentation of enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited trade school, technical institute, junior college, or four-year college/university program leading to a certificate or degree.

6.      Include a statement of endorsement by at least one Industrial Technology/Vocational teacher.

 

Applications are available from the office of the registrar at West Campus.

 

All materials must be submitted to that office by the proper date.

 

The G. H. Elliott Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to the selected recipient at the Scholarship and Awards Night in the spring of the year.

 

The $500 check will be issued after the recipient has submitted documentation of enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited trade school, technical institute, junior college, or four-year college/university program leading to a certificate or degree.
