BONUS POINTS
Students
may earn 1% bonus pts for having no point deductions and no unexcused
tardies for each grading period.

GRADING POLICY
50%
participation and 50% authentic assessment
Participation
includes: participating in class
activity (dressing for class, cooperation and effort) and
meeting daily objectives. Students may earn up to 5 points a
day which accumulates to
approximately 150 points per grading period and
approximately 450 points per semester.
Authentic Assessments
may include: performance labs,
skill tests, skill technique, worksheets, quizzes, tests,
packets, computer analysis, game play and the final semester
exam. Students may earn 150 points per grading
period which adds up to 450
points per semester. The final exam is worth 100
points which is 10% of the total
points.

LOCKER ROOM PROCEDURES
-
No
food, drink, and gum in the locker room, gym,
gymnastics' area or weight room.
-
No
glass containers are permitted
in the locker rooms.
-
Students are only permitted
in the locker room when dressing for class and/or
returning from class (use the washroom before or after
class).
-
Students should act appropriately in the locker room.
-
All
students will dress in the locker room and will store
their books, purses, clothes, etc. in their LOCKED
lockers.
-
Students should not bring large sums of money to school.

MAKE-UP POLICY
-
Students who are not dressed to
participate in Physical Education
classes have the opportunity to make
up classes and 'earn back' their
participation points;
make-up classes need to be completed
during the grading period in which
the ND, AB, PX or truancy occurs.
-
Class make-ups will be done in the
Life Lab (3:05 - 3:35 pm) at East
Campus or the Cardio Fitness Center
(2:25 - 2:55 pm) at West Campus.
-
For each class make-up session
attended 5
participation points shall be
earned; if 3 make-up sessions are
successfully completed, one ND or
truancy will be eliminated from the
student's grade record.
-
To successfully complete
a make-up session, students must
workout in their target heart rate
zone, the lab aide will check heart
rates periodically during the
session, or give the instructor a
printout of their workout.
-
Students are required to wear their
Physical Education uniform and be on
time to the session.
-
Students may make up all points
lost due to absences, ND, PX and/or
truancies.

MEDICALS - DOCTOR'S NOTE
-
On the first day in class with a
medical excuse, the student should take the note down to the
nurse’s office.
-
The doctor’s note must state
physical limitations.
-
If a student is unable to
participate in alternative activities the student shall not
dress and will not participate; the student does not have to
make-up classes missed and their grade will be prorated.
-
If a student is out of PE for
less than 6 weeks, the student will attend PE class and be
responsible for all cognitive material taught and be
expected to submit all written tasks throughout the duration
of the medical note. Any physical skill assessment will be
prorated from the start date of the medical note, in
accordance with the physical limitations provided by the
medical professional.
-
If a student is unable to
participate for 6 weeks or more, without alternative
activities, then the student shall be dropped from the class
with a medical excuse as per district policy (see the
nurse).

PARENTAL NOTES
(PX)
If a
student is well enough to be in school, he/she is well
enough to dress for class and participate to the best of
his/her ability.
-
A
parent note may be required to verify an illness or
injury
(no more than two consecutive days).
-
Parent
notes may only cover 2
consecutive days. After 2 days
a doctor's note is required.
-
Participation points are not earned on days that
students do not dress because of parental notes,
however, students may make-up the class to 'earn back'
points.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
LOCKERS
-
Lake
Park is not responsible for items lost or stolen.
-
Each
students will either select
or be assigned a
locker to store their uniform in overnight.
-
"Long"
lockers are to be used during
a student's class hour only.
-
Students should not share lockers with other students.
-
Students are to use Lake Park locks only.

STUDENT DRESS POLICY - GENERAL
The Lake Park physical
education student dress policy has been implemented
to offer students reasonable choices of athletic attire while maintaining an
acceptable standard of dress. All students are expected
to dress and are required to wear the following uniform.
Students missing ANY
part of this required uniform will earn partial activity points.
Clothes worn for class may not be worn inside out and
clothing worn to school should not be worn to physical education class.

Navy Blue, Lake Park
Physical Education regulation shorts only. |
| T-Shirt: |
Grey,
Lake Park Physical Education regulation shirt only.
(Any other t-shirt from any other Lake Park activity will
not be allowed.) |
| Socks: |
White athletic socks are required everyday. |
| Shoes: |
Regular athletic shoes are
required. They must have tied laces, and must be a "court" type of shoe. Boots,
hiking boots, rock climbing shoes, street shoes and shoes with a heel are not
acceptable. |
STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR L. P. TEAM UNIFORMS TO
P. E. CLASS
Students may also choose to add to their Physical Education
uniform by wearing the following items:
| Sweats: |
Navy blue, white, black or
gray sweats are the only acceptable sweats. These should be free of
advertisement or other lettering, unless the lettering is Lake Park. They
may not be cut off. Any other Lake Park or activity
issued sweats are ok. |
| Cotton/Spandex Shorts: |
Cotton and spandex shorts
may be worn under the Lake Park Physical Education
shorts or sweats. Navy, gray or white only. Lace
is not allowed. |

TARDY POLICY
-
Students are expected to be
in their respective locker rooms prior to the end of
passing time (signaled by a tardy bell).
-
Students are expected to be in their specific attendance
areas when the 5 minute dress
bell sounds.
-
Refer
to the school tardy policy in your L.P. Rules and
Regulations packet.

TRUANCY & CLASS CUTS

Truant |
A 15 point
deduction along with loss of any assessment
points possible on the day of a truancy.

Class Cut |

class cut. Class cuts will be
issued if student leaves the gym or locker
room before the final bell. |
