GRADES 11-12

COURSE OVERVIEW: 
Team sports/wellness is a fitness course that uses team sports as a vehicle to promote life long mental and physical wellness. Four days a week participation in team sports and one day a week participation in an aerobic activity will be used to achieve the course objective.
 
 

UNITS OF INSTRUCTION:
UNIT I -  Flag Football
UNIT II -  Soccer
UNIT III - Team Handball
UNIT IV - Fitness/Fitness Assessment 

 

COURSE OUTCOMES: 

bulletAssess personal fitness.
bulletLearn how to maintain personal fitness throughout life.
bulletExit with average or above average fitness component in cardio-vascular endurance.
bulletExit with an average or above average knowledge of vocabulary used in the covered team sports.
bulletExit with an average or above average knowledge of rules used in the covered sports.
 

UNIQUE/SPECIAL STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS COURSE: 

bulletDress in the required Lake Park physical education uniform.
bulletParticipate to the best of ability in daily activities.
bulletKeep a folder with all handouts.
bulletComplete all required assignments.
bulletBe able to demonstrate verbally or physically basic skills used in each one of the covered sports.

bulletAnalyze and apply complex offensive, defensive, and cooperative strategies for selected games and sports. (19.C.5b)
bulletDemonstrate individual responsibility through use of various team-building strategies in physical activity settings (e.g., etiquette, fair play, self-officiating, coaching, organizing a group activity.) (21.A.5)
