Varsity:  Monday, March 1st – Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
                Monday, March 1st = Main Gym @ East Campus (12-3 p.m.)
                Tuesday, March 2nd = East Balcony @ East Campus (5:15-7:30 p.m.)
                Wednesday, March 3rd = East Balcony @ East Campus (5:15-7:30 p.m.)

JV & Freshmen:  Tuesday, March 2nd – Thursday, March 4th, 2010
                Tuesday, March 2nd = East Balcony @ East Campus (3:15-5:15 p.m.)  * There is a 5:45 bus!
                Wednesday, March 3rd = East Balcony @ East Campus (3:15-5:15 p.m.)  * There is a 5:45 bus!

All required information that you must be aware of and bring to try-outs. 

1.      COPY OF  THE  ATHLETIC  DEPARTMENT   RELEASE  TO  PARTICIPATE 
This consists of proof of the following:
A.           Physical  
- completed by a doctor and handed into your coach. (Freshmen– you already had this done
                when you entered Lake Park;  sophomores, juniors, & seniors – if you have been out for another sport or
                activity, you already have this done).

b.           emergency  card
This duplicate form must be completed for this sport.  Be sure all information is
                accurate.  See #1 on where they can be turned into. 

 C.          LANCER  CODE  OF  CONDUCT
- You need to sign this once. See #1 on who it must be turned into. 

D.           IHSA  CONSENT  TO  RANDOM  DRUG  TESTING

                yourself.  Please give to the coaches on the 1st day of practice!

Text Box:  BADMINTON  PLAYER  EXPECTATIONS

1.                  COMMUNICATION
a.  Always keep your coaches informed on absences,
        homework concerns, etc.
b.    Coaches need to be notified via email prior to a missed
        practice.
c.     If you will miss a meet then notify your coach ASAP or
        preferably 24 hours before.
d.    When you are aware of future dates you will miss, please
        give these dates to your coach in writing.


2.                  RULES
Players are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the rules of our athletic department & the IHSA guidelines.   These are expectations regarding behavior, grades, eligibility, etc. 


3.                  EQUIPMENTà Treat all equipment, teammates, coaches, & your opponent with respect.
a.    Appropriate Attire
        - It is an expectation that you wear gym shoes, socks, appropriate length of shorts/sweat pants /
                        tennis skirt, T-shirts or other athletic shirts to practice. 
b.    Rackets
        - If you are unable to purchase your own racket, we will provide one for you under the condition
                        that it is your responsibility of the racket & cover’s whereabouts and condition. 
c.       Nets & Standards
        - It is requirement that ALL BADMINTON ATHLETES will help set up and take down nets and
                        standards. 
        - Equipment must be set up by 3:15 p.m. unless otherwise noted.                                                           



4.                  PRACTICE
a.    Attend ALL practices.
        - In order to compete in our sport, you will be committed to 6 days a week of practice or
                        competitions.
        - It is also expected that you will give your undivided 110% attention at practice from start to
                        finish.  This includes all aspects of conditioning.
b.    Be in the appropriate gym at the scheduled time.
c.     Be aware that gym usage might change BUT whatever is scheduled we will commit to that
        duration of time. 
d.    Practices begin with running/lines, stretching, & hitting.  We will progress to game related drills
        as well as enhancement in strategies, skills, and conditioning. 
e.    When at practice or competition, it is expected for you to execute 110% effort.
f.     There will be times when coaches will want internal challenge competition.  We do this because
        people grow and develop differently throughout the season.  It will be expected for you to fulfill
        these requests
g.    Make your doctor appointments outside of the practice schedule. 
        Schedule DRIVERS EDUCATION behind the wheels in February OR right away at 3 p.m. or
        Saturday @ 8 a.m.
h.    SPRING BREAK – If not here, an athlete will have to complete workouts. 
i.      CELL PHONES are not allowed in the gym during practice or during our competitions! 

5.                  SCHEDULE

6.                  COMPETITIONS:  Dual meets; quad meets; and invitational
* Badminton is a team sport.  Support the team with a winning attitude!  After you are done with your match, encourage other team members that are still playing.  All players do not leave until the team meeting is completed at the conclusion of the meet. 
a.    You must bring a water bottle, hand towel, and healthy food.
b.    We might ask for you to evaluate your teammates during competitions.
c.     You can work on homework during team competitions.
d.    If not doing homework or evaluating your teammates then we want you to cheer your teammates.
e.    COACHES CANNOT ESTIMATE WHAT TIME OUR MEET FINISHES.

HOME

 - As always, it an expectation that you set-up the gyms by 3:15 p.m.   
 - All athletes must stay to the end of all competition.  It is strongly advised for you to support your
                        teammates during their competition. 
 - After each competition, you must report scores to the coach/manager.
- At the conclusion of the match, ALL ATHLETES will take down & help clean up.  You will be
                        huddling up to discuss how each level did and overall observations.

AWAY
- We wear our shirts during the school day to promote our sport.
- Be dressed and ready to go at 3:10.  NOTE:  THE BUS LEAVES @ 3:15 – NO EXCEPTIONS! 
         We all ride to and from matches on the team bus.
- All ladies are expected to ride the bus home unless a parent writes a note and go home with their
        parent.

*CELL PHONES: 
        We would prefer cell phones to only be used when coming home on a bus to arrange a ride.
