This is Coach Mikrut’s 2nd year in the softball program and first year at the varsity level. He is currently finishing up his education at Concordia University where he is a Physical Education Major. Coach Mikrut played two years of collegiate basketball at Concordia after graduating from and playing four years of varsity basketball at Lake Park.

He is a big NASCAR fan and plays a lot of golf in the summer, even though he will never be as good as his head coach Tom Mazzie is.

“I just feel honored to be a part of such a great program. I have never been around a group of people that work as hard as the girls and the coaches in the program do, and I look forward to keeping the Lancer softball tradition going.

Coach Chellson previously worked at Fenton High School where he was an assistant varsity baseball coach.  Coach Chellson played baseball at Niles North High School and then onto college where he played at Harper College and Northeastern IL University.  Coach Chellson graduated from Northeastern with a Bachelors degree in Education; majoring in Physical and Health Education.  Coach Chellson currently teaches health at East Campus.

His interests include playing competitive tournament softball during the off-season.

Coach Fitzgerald rejoins the LP staff after a 3 season hiatus.   Coach Fitzgerald worked with LP as the Asst. JV coach in 1999 and asst. Varsity coach from 2000-2005. He also was the Head Varsity coach at Immaculate Conception in 2006.

Coach Fitzgerald got his start in coaching working with youth travel softball in Roselle, Bloomingdale and other surrounding communities. 

Coach Fitzgerald is married to his wife of 33 years, Liz, is the father of 2 LP alumni Kerry and Hannah (who was a LP softball player) and is a proud grandfather of 2.

Coach Fitzgerald is a graduate of St. Laurence High School and the University of Illinois at Chicago.  He teaches Business Education at Elmwood Park High School.

Coach Diamond is in his 26th season coaching softball at LP.  Coach Diamond was the first Freshman Softball Coach at LP.  Additionally, he spent 3 seasons as the JV Softball Coach.  

Coach Diamond has been a special education teacher for 31 years. Currently, he runs a transition program for multi-needs students ages 18-21 who have aged out of Fenton and LP.

Mr. Diamond pitched for Immaculate Conception H.S. (Elmhurst) for four years. His interests include playing competitive tournament softball.

The Freshman Softball Team has been conference champs in 6 of the last 7 years. The team has only lost one conference game in the last three years.
